Waterloo, ON Dec 3, 2024: Palitronica Inc. has been awarded a $1,900,000 CAD contract by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to deliver Palitronica's electronics supply chain cyber-assurance solution for the critical infrastructure sector to National Resources Canada (NRCAN) under Innovative Solutions Canada's Testing Stream (ISC-TS).
During this project, NRCan will acquire Palitronica’s Anvil Checkpoint and PowerFuzzer to assess cyber material assurance approaches for electronics hardware and software. “The current practice for purchasing and using electronics in the supply chain is a ‘trust-based’ system”, states Palitronica CEO, Sebastian Fischmeister. “Due to the risks that critical electronic systems pose, Palitronica is a champion of the Zero Trust model in which electronics are tested, not implicitly trusted”
Palitronica’s Anvil Checkpoint and PowerFuzzer, quantitatively protect components and assemblies, and by extension complete systems, from manufacturing defects, oversight, and fraud. This includes counterfeit, non-confirmance, silent design changes, and staged malicious hardware and software vulnerabilities.
NRCan will assess Palitronica’s technology on a range of electronics including: programmable logic controllers, line-replaceable units, two factor authentication systems, and cables. Other Government of Canada organizations will also participate in the assessment as the topic of a zero-trust supply chain is relevant for other critical sectors such as defense, aerospace, or medical.
The ISC initiative is designed to stimulate technology research, development, and commercialization of Canadian innovations. It funds innovators like Palitronica for R&D and for testing prototypes in real-life settings.
