Sebastian Fischmeister is known for his pioneering research at the intersection of software technology, distributed systems, and formal methods. With a background in computer science from the Vienna University of Technology and a Ph.D. from the University of Salzburg, Fischmeister has built a remarkable career that spans academia, applied research and industry application. A professional engineer, he currently serves as a Professor and NSERC/Magna Industrial Research Chair in Automotive Software for Connected and Automated Vehicles at the University of Waterloo, Canada as well as leading Palitronica; and innovative company providing cyber and quality assurance solutions for the Zero Trust Supply Chain.

His accolades include the prestigious Austrian APART stipend, the Ontario Early Researcher Award, and numerous best paper and tool awards. He is an ACM Distinguished Speaker, sharing his expertise on vital topics like system validation, security, and the performance evaluation of embedded systems. He works with SAE and MITRE working groups on standardization and guidelines for cyber assurance in electronics.
